Activities

Skiing

Where the region of Gorenjska is ending up, and where the region of Primorska is beginning, there is Ski Center Cerkno. The slopes of Črni vrh, a mountain 1291 meters high, are a homeland of this new ski pearl, excelling by ideal geographic position, by good snow statistics (so far as natural and artificial snow is concerned), by 70 hectares of well prepared ski resorts by a convenient access, in brief, by all facilities which can be offered to the ski enthusiast as well as to the ski beginner.
 
Cerkno Ski Centre is a family resort with approximately 11 miles of pisted ski runs, suitable for beginners, intermediate and experienced skiers. The ski centre also has snow cannons making artificial snow when needed. For cross country skiers there is approximately 1 mile of pisted tracks. Cerkno Ski Centre has the fastest, modern lift system in Slovenia with its two six seater chair lifts, two four seater chair lifts, two two seater chair lifts and two t-bar lifts. There are also two conveyor lifts for children and beginners at ski school and ski kindergarden.
 
 
Hiking

One of the options for those who like to spend their vacations actively is also mountaineering.  Average hight of the Cerkno hills is 1000m. Between ridges and mountains there are crystal clear streams and rivers, among mountains there are several plains rising above incredible gorges. Cerkno region is a crossing for many trekking routes like Slovenian mountain route, European walking route Nr. E7, red route Via Alpina, Voralpe route.
 
 

Biking

A diverse region with a pristine landcape, numerous scenic nature trails and remarkable cultural and natural heritage.
 
The Cerkno hills are every cyclist's dream. Choose a short and easy tour, or a long and difficult one, where a high level of physical fitness is crucial. Climbs to the nearby summits will reward you with unforgettable views. And there are plenty of treats for downhill fans too. You will look back fondly on your adventures in the wonderful setting, the peaceful and unspoilt natural environment, the clean rivers and warm people, and you will be eager to return. 
 
 

Fishing & hunting

Cerkno region offers ideal conditions for an attractive hunting in unspoiled nature, where one can enjoy in peace and quiet, looking at all the natural sights that nature has created through the centuries. Nature is rich in fauna, notably with chamois and deers.

Climbing

The equipped climbing wall Lutne skale is situated in the gorge Kazarska grapa which is full of natural sights- a natural bridge, the riverbed and a chute on the stream, pools and tufa layers. The unspoilt environment offers great opportunities for free climbing. On the road from the village Reka in the direction of the village Zakojca follow the road for the village Police. Climbing is led by experienced alpinistic instructors, who gained experiences by climbing in Himalayas, Peru, Alps and worldwide.

Trips

Excursion begins with a guided tour of the partisan hospital, which represents a symbol of Slovene partisan health and bears witness to incredible humanity and self-sacrifice of taking care of the wounded.
Franja Partisan Hospital has been added on the tentative list of the Unesco World Heritage and is one of the European Heritage sites.

Swimming

Hotel Cerkno has an indoor swimming pool with thermal water, suitable for recreation, swimming club preparation, or relaxation. There is organized swimming for seniors, swimming courses for beginners, water aerobics. Especially in winter time swimming pool is a place to warm up and relax.

Adrenalin sports

Cerkno region is a paradise for every active researcher of nature. One of possibillities to be in touch with the nature is paragliding, which every year attracts more and more enthusiasts of adrenaline adventures. Steep slopes of the hills, and beautiful scenic views make sailing unforgettable. Paintball is adrenaline sport appropriate for all adventure loving visitors.
